Facts and Figures about the Rhine-Main Region

The Rhine-Main Region takes in the 10 districts of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce which make up the IHK-Forum Rhine-Main. This economic region covers an area of 14.876 km² in Hessen, Rhineland-Palatinate and Bavaria, with a population of 5,5 million people. The half live in the Rhine-Main conurbation which includes the core cities of the region - Aschaffenburg, Darmstadt, Frankfurt am Main, Fulda, Gießen, Hanau, Limburg, Mainz, Offenbach am Main, Wiesbaden and Worms. This area has a population density of 1.526 inhabitants per square kilometre.

Frankfurt Rhine-Main is Germany´s most cosmopolitan region. In many international benchmarkings Frankfurt Rhine-Main fetches top rankings and is clearly among the most appreciated business locations in Europe.

The region´s position at the crossroads of Europe makes it a natural meeting point for business. Not only the excellent infrastructure of road, rail, ship and air transportation offering direct daily access to almost any place in Europe and the world, but also the highly qualified labour force, an advanced information and communication infrastructure, the number of universities and schools available and the abundance of a rich cultural life makes it a unique place to live and to work, to be productive and to enjoy life.

Many foreigners are already living in the Rhine-Main-Area and they are welcome. An open minded population looks forward to welcoming people and foreign capital to enhance the regional development of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main-Area.
